Play NC supports local non-profits in Durham, NC by hosting games, sports, and other fun recreational activities for charity. In every game we play, 100% of the proceeds will go towards supporting at least one of our 20 non-profit partners. As of May 2022, here is a list of our current game offerings:
Co-ed, adult, slow-pitch, recreational softball league. Games played on Sundays at Pineywood Park in Durham, NC. All teams in the league represent a local non-profit partner, with that charity earning more donations at the end of the season if their team does well.
We host two season: a Spring season that starts in March (registrations start in January) and a Summer/Fall season that starts in August (registrations start in June). We usually have 12-16 teams each season, with our highlights being the 2-3 donation drives for physical items that we host to benefit our partners each season.

Wednesday night cornhole tournaments at Tobacco Wood Brewing Company in Durham, NC.
Our cornhole tournaments are focused on helping veteran-based causes, including Vets to Vets United and American Legion Post 416. Each night, Tobacco Wood is offering $50 in gift cards and Play NC adding another $2/player in cash prizes to the winning team.
Tobacco Wood is the first female, veteran-owned brewery in North Carolina and we are proud to support their business!
Play NC hosts monthly “Play Anytime” tournaments at Hillandale Golf Course in Durham, NC to benefit local charities. For $20 per person, plus the standard Greens Fees for any normal round, your group can enter the monthly tournament and compete against other groups that enter during the same month.
At any point during the month, your group can play a Best Ball format, with a few extra twists, and submit an official entry into the monthly tournament. You will turn in your official scorecard to the Pro Shop at the end of the round and all scores will be reported at the end of the month. The winners, runner-ups, and a few random players will receive a nice prize package each month, with 100% of the proceeds going to benefit SwingPals and other Play NC charities.
We hope you’ll play!
The pandemic necessitated online gaming options, so we came up with a Minecraft server! This is the first kid-oriented game we’ve hosted, but plenty of adults play, as well! There are a few cool things on the server that everyone can use, and the economy rewards players for playing the game the right way. There is a whitelist on the server to be sure you are playing with other players that are local to North Carolina and everything is intended to be family friendly. If you are an adult that happens to play Minecraft with your kid, or if you’re a kid that wants to play Minecraft with your parents, consider playing on our server! We’d love to see what you can build!
GAMES WE ARE WORKING ON
- Friday Night “Pickup” Wiffle Ball. We will be launching a Friday night, sandlot-style Wiffle ball game at the Durham Miracle League field, once that location has finished construction. Each night, we will play a series of Wiffle ball games with blind-draw team assignments. Individuals will be able to register by themselves, show up whenever they can, and earn individual points towards end-of-season standings. Basically, players will play together each week, but earn points individually towards end-of-season rewards and tournaments.
- Monthly Online Poker Tournaments. Eventually, we hope to add poker to our online charity game offerings. We are currently exploring options to expand to poker as our “adult” online game – all we need is a volunteer to take the “Poker Commissioner” role in the Play NC organization! You would be required to organize, promote, and play in every monthly online tournament, but you would have the support of Play NC with every other aspect of the payment, prize, and charitable aspects of the game. If you are interested, please contact us!
- Soccer? Basketball? Cricket? Pickleball? What sports should we try to play next?
We are always looking to play more games, so please let us know if you have any ideas! Thanks for playing, everyone!
